100 Books in 2026

You've had a story living in your head for years. This is the year it becomes a real book.

Join the 12-month journey from idea to published author

Most people who want to write a book never do.

Not because they lack talent. Not because their ideas aren't good enough. But because they open a blank document, stare at it for twenty minutes, and close it feeling worse than when they started.

The distance between "I have an idea" and "I have a published book" feels enormous. Impossible, even. So the story stays locked in your head where it's safe. Where no one can judge it. Where it slowly starts to feel like a fantasy you'll never reach.

I've been there. Staring at the cursor. Wondering where the hell to even begin.

But I figured something out.

The problem isn't talent or time or even motivation. The problem is that nobody gives you the path.

They tell you to "just write" like that means something. They sell you courses with forty hours of video that you'll never finish. They leave you alone with your doubt and then wonder why you quit.

I'm doing something different.

I'm going to help 100 people publish a book in 2026.

Not start a book. Not work on a book. Actually publish the thing.

A real book with your name on it. Available on Amazon (or wherever). Something people can buy and read and talk about. Something that proves you did more than just dream about it.

The Two Things You Need

After years of building worlds and helping other people build theirs, I've realized the path to a finished book has two distinct phases. Most people try to skip the first one. That's why they fail.

1

Build a world worth writing in.

Generic fantasy worlds produce generic fantasy stories. You know the ones. Vaguely medieval. Some kind of magic that's never quite explained. A chosen one doing chosen one things.

Boring.

The stories that stick with us come from worlds that feel real. Worlds with rules and texture and history. That's what The Imagination Engine builds.

2

Actually write the book.

A world bible isn't a novel. It's a foundation. The writing still has to happen. And that's where most people stall out.

Not because they're lazy. Because they're alone. No structure. No accountability. No one noticing whether they showed up or not.

That's what The Tavern's Back Room fixes.

The Four Phases

PHASE 1

From World to Story

Your world exists. But a world isn't a story. Find your protagonist, map the central conflict, and create a scene-by-scene blueprint. By the end you'll have a complete outline.

PHASE 2

The Draft

The long stretch. The actual writing. Your target is 30,000-40,000 words. Less than 300 words a day. Weekly targets keep you moving. The community keeps you accountable.

PHASE 3

Revision

First drafts aren't books. They're raw material. Developmental edit, scene-level edit, line polish. Swap chapters with other writers for fresh perspective.

PHASE 4

Publishing

The final push. Formatting. Cover. Uploading to Amazon. Writing a description that sells. Hitting publish. Your book is real and it's out there.

This Is For You If

  • You've had a story idea rattling around in your head for years
  • You've started writing before but lost momentum because you were doing it alone
  • You love world-building but struggle to turn settings into narratives
  • You've bought courses that are still sitting untouched in your inbox
  • You want accountability and community more than you want information
  • You're willing to commit to twelve months of showing up

This Is Not For You If

  • You want someone to write the book for you
  • You're not willing to put in at least a few hours a week
  • You need a traditional publishing deal or you'll consider it a failure
  • You're looking for a magic formula that requires no discipline

Questions You Might Have

That's fine. The Back Room timeline includes space to complete your world bible before moving into story development. You're not behind.
Plan for 3-5 hours. Some weeks you'll do more when you're in flow. Some weeks life will hit and you'll do less. 300 words a day is enough to finish a book in a year.
The Imagination Engine is built for speculative fiction. Fantasy, sci-fi, weird fiction, anything with world-building at its core. If your story requires you to build a world that doesn't exist, this is for you.
The Back Room officially kicks off in January 2026, but you can start the Imagination Engine as soon as you purchase. The cohort model means everyone's moving through the phases together, which creates better community and accountability.
Your first book might not be great. Most first books aren't. But a finished book you can improve is infinitely more valuable than a perfect book that doesn't exist. Publishing teaches you things that planning never will. Get the first one out. Get better on the second.
